Seasons

    Salmon are like relatives, you never know exactly when they will show up or leave.

Kings (Chinook) -  Available year round, the larger runs begin late April and last until mid July.

Cohos (Silvers) -  Runs begin in early July until early Sept.

Rockfish (Various Species) -  All year.

Lingcod -  Season opens July 1st until December 30th

Halibut  - Only closed in January;  Peak season - April to September (Common year round).

What to bring

    Homer is a very mild climate comparable to the upper mid west in summer. I'd suggest when you pack for your trip to keep it simple. Remember I provide every thing for fishing on board the boat. Try to travel light, don't over pack. If you should leave anything behind, it can easily be purchased in town. My point here is that very often people have a lot more to take home than what they have arrived with, such as fish and souvenirs. The airlines only allow for so much weight, so I would pack a few of my possessions in a cooler.

•  A clear mind and a positive attitude. (remember, you're on vacation)
•  A camera. (bring lots of film or media cards)
•  Old tennies or deck shoes for the boat, at times there is blood on the deck.
•  Hooded sweat shirts. (I'll be offering some 4 sale)
•  Light rain proof spring jacket. (because it's often cool out on the water)
•  Cell phones work up here too!!
•  A sack lunch for the boat.
•  Homer Halibut Derby ticket. (Don't fish with out it!!)
