THE FISHING
Well, as some of you might guess there are seasons and regulations to consider when planning your trip. I fish YEAR ROUND (except during hunting season) and yes, I do fish the winter Kings.
There are 5 species of salmon, Numerous species of Rock Fish, Lingcod, Grey Cod, Salmon Shark, the occasional Octopus and of course, Halibut. To plan your trip, decide what species you are going to target. Please click on the Seasons button for a brief listing or The Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game sport fishing site for more information)
Starting in April the Kings and Halibut start moving in from the deep waters in large numbers. King Salmon up to 70 or more pounds run till mid June. Halibut are always found through out the year but the best fishing is from April through September. Remember these giants can tip the scales at well over 300lbs. Rockfish such as Greenling, Yellow Eye, and Black Bass are outstanding game fish. Ling Cod up to 60lbs or more are also very common. They are a must for the mid-western walleye fishermen. Silver Salmon (Coho) begin to arrive in July and the heavy runs last till September. I will also be offering spring King trips out of Ninilchik with Capt Richard Beven on board a 22ft. open skiff. Perfect for trolling the coast lines. Remember I'll do all the filleting at no cost to you.
Fishing these waters offers anglers vast opportunities. When you are ready to plan your trip I'll give you some suggestions to assist you when booking your adventure.
